October is slipping away over the horizon so this is our last show to celebrate with the people of October. It ends with Halloween on Thursday. But November is right around the corner with its share of celebrations. In addition to our birthday and anniversary celebrants it is the end of the year Holiday Season so there is still a lot to look forward to. And as we celebrate we take time out for a little conversation. So Let's Talk.
On this date October 26, in 1970 Mohammed Ali was allowed to return to boxing after his conviction was overturned. He was charged and convicted of a criminal offense after he refused to be drafted into the military during the Vietnam War. Mohammed Ali was now a Moslem and refused to drafted on the grounds of his religious beliefs. His famous declaration of "I have no quarrel with the Vietnamese People" did not sit well with White people. He further added "You" meaning white people are my enemy. No Vietnamese has ever called me Nigger. For this they tried to make him a criminal and stripped him of the right to make a living. Meanwhile rich white boys were getting exemptions as conscientious objectors and moving to Canada to avoid the same draft. Should people be charged with a criminal offense for refusing to participate in a war they object to even if they members of the military? Come on in. Join the conversation or tell us what you want to talk about. We are always happy to hear from you.
