Hosted by former Essence and Billboard magazine editor Janine Coveney in a laidback conversational style, the show focuses on movies old and new from a fan perspective. Each show has a theme (movie moms, forgotten blaxploitation, biopics, westerns, etc.).
We’ve gotten to a place in the pandemic where many countries are opening their borders once more. Got me thinking about a city I’ve always wanted to visit: Paris. Which of course got me thinking about movies that are set in Paris, or in France, that have inspired me to make the trip. Joining me – direct from Paris, France! --will be my friend and former Essence colleague Karen Thomas.
“Karen Thomas has never worked a day in her life. She pursued her passion for 20 years as ESSENCE marketing and special events director, retired, then spent the next 20 years developing a $200 million not-for-profit charter school network that grew from a $1 million investment. Her idea of retirement is doing whatever the hell she pleases including living in Paris to study art history. Her greatest accomplishments are her children and grandchildren, with whom she hopes never to live.” Join us for what promises to be a fun – and informative – chat about movies á la français that have touched and inspired us, recent or not.
