  • Love, Laughs, and Lipstick Stains: My Adventures in French Online Dating

    in Romance

Welcome to "Love, Laughs, and Lipstick Stains" with your host, Jolie Girard! Today, I'm diving into the delightful chaos of online dating in France. So grab your favorite beverage and get ready for some hilarious tales from the digital dating trenches.
Lost in Translation (Literally): Picture this: eagerly awaiting my French crush, only to realize my linguistic skills were no match for his rapid-fire slang. It was like trying to solve a crossword puzzle in the dark!
The Culinary Catastrophe: Ah, the allure of a man who promises culinary delights. But when our dinner date turned into a smoke-filled fiasco, I realized romance wasn't the only thing burning that night.
The Case of the Disappearing Date: Ever encountered a catfish? I have. Let's just say, his profile pic was more fiction than fact. Note to self: trust instincts, not Instagram filters.
History Lesson or Date?: Paris, the city of love... and impromptu history lessons? My date seemed more interested in educating me than wooing me. Lesson learned: skip the lectures, bring on the love.
Metro Madness: Navigating the Paris metro is an adventure, especially when trying to find love underground. I ended up on a sightseeing tour of the city's tunnels instead of a romantic rendezvous.
The Mime Affair: Actions speak louder than words, they say. Well, my date took it to heart, communicating in gestures and expressions worthy of a silent film. Let's just say, it was a performance I won't soon forget.
And there you have it, listeners - a glimpse into my colorful dating escapades in the city of love. It's been a rollercoaster of laughter, lessons, and unexpected twists, but hey, that's what makes life interesting!
Before you jump back into the dating pool, why not check out Model France? Who knows, your next great adventure might just be a click away.

  • A SYSTEM OF MORALITY

    in Lifestyle

Were they kidding when they wrote ritial telling us masonry is a 'beautiful system of morality veiled in allegory'. Before we arrive at that doorway, we have some miles to travel, that will wear out our boots and leave us parched. Of course we have our own examples of beauty, but beautiful systems of morality? To quote from the Wizard of Oz... that's a horse of a different colour. To think in moral terms is hard. I don't believe we are being threaded through the small tiny hole, but haven't we been reminded that even morality can be displaced by competing to be the most moral in the room? It reminds me of brown shoes. When I walk into a shoe store, the selection seems endless and I'll admit there are times when I wish on the shelf there was one pair of brown shoes. That I could handle. Are we correct extending our trust to the abstract notions of Antient and Accepted? Until we take time to examine and consider them, let alone consider changing our thinking by accepting new ideas, 'masonic' reflections, we have our own judgement, hopefully doubtful but fundamentally consistent with a virtuous life.  What to do about those who are not?  Nothing. There is nothing to do but be in character, carry on silently with life and be the example of a better way.  That lets me consider options.  I can carry on based on what I've been taught in early life, in my culture according to my version of a good man and examine what contributing philosophers have said on the topic. I'm not. going to lie to you, there are differences but at times many of them seem applicable.  I can't argue with Hume, about religion being a response to fear. But Kant makes sense too. There are limits to human understanding, so reasoning is vitally important. Whether it is his assertion of Hermes Trismegistus, or his own, reality is in the mind and yes there is evidence of knowledge that happens beyond direct experience.
