Jaime B. Parent is a retired Air Force Lieutenant Colonel having served over 20 years in the United States Air Force Biomedical Services Corps. With a premise and desire to continue to serve, Jaime successfully became a healthcare Chief Information Officer at the University of Maryland Health System and as an Assistant Professor in the College of Health Sciences, and an executive Health Information officer Rush University Medical Center. Jaime has been an advocate for individuals with disabilities for 30 years, serving as a board member and treasurer for the Autism Society of America, as well as a coach and mentor for Special Olympics. His first book, Moving Past PTSD: Consciousness, Understanding and Appreciation for Military Veterans and Their Families re-frames combat-related PTSD as not only a medical issue, but as a social issue. Included in the appendix of his book is the “EN-Abled Veteran”: a 13-week fast track information technology program, easily adaptable and provided license free for any and all healthcare organizations with a compassion for veterans.
