Denise Mast Broadwater, counselor, author and speaker has come to know through all of her living is she need more time and space in her life, to stop and just breathe, to feel she am not alone. God continues to have a purpose for her. As a daughter, her goals involved her friends, her parents and siblings, and finding love. Fortunately, she found a good man who strives to overlook her weirdness and love me well. Marriage is HARD, but worth it. As a mother, her focus is nurturing and supporting her children. Then they flew the nest, and Denise had to let them go. It's in this season, she begin to share her story.

For Denise, life easily slips into rote. She focuses on immediate tasks at hand; rushing and busily filling a 24-hour day with way more activity than any sane person should consider. Now, her life is moving from helping and listening one on one, to a more solitary introspective pursuit. A keeper of stories for the past ten years, Denise has come to know we are all deeper and more mysterious than any one person can figure out. Her hope is for her readers to hear her story and for us to resolve and learn together. In her book, "A House with Holes: One Marriage Journey in a Charleston Renovation," she tells the story of when as veteran rehabbers she and her husband, Greg Broadwater, purchased a dilapidated Charleston Cottage in a sketchy part of town for less than the value of the lot, they soon uncovered complications they didn't bargain for both in the house and in their relationship.

As a licensed counselor, Denise thought she could handle anything that came up in her 30-year marriage. However, she didn't plan on open dirt floors, a creepy bathroom or wildlife in her kitchen, and that's just for starters.
