Mary Odgers, a writer, registered nurse of 25 yrs and life coach; whose default view of the world is through the lens of optimism. Born in Washington, D.C., the second of six children to a Marine Corps general and a former Navy nurse, Mary moved frequently, and by the age of 21 had had 20 different addresses. This nomad-like existence that required starting over numerous times, along with having to reinvent herself after experiencing multiple tragedies, has allowed her to specialize in navigating transitions with her coaching clients. She holds a Master Grief Coach certification. Having made her home in southern California since 1989, Mary spends her free time hiking Mt. Woodson, enjoying walks along the beach, swimming in the ocean with friends, cooking, traveling the world, and relishes the company of her 2 grown sons, extended family, and loving friends. She currently lives W/ her partner Pierre in Solana Beach, California where she works as a post-anesthesia nurse. Mary lost her home, and a lifetime of memories to a California wildfire. 1 year later, in 8 weeks, she lost her husband, a commercial pilot for Delta Airlines, W/ whom she shared 3 sons, her father, and her youngest son all in tragic ways. Rather than define herself by grief or view herself as a victim, Mary dug deep and found a path from devastation to growth & joy. Released 3-17-2020 her new memoir, Six Funerals and a Wedding Mary shares her story: of family, all its joys and bumps, proud moments and regrets. Taking readers deep into the lives of those she has loved including her husband, who took his own life, her sons, 1 of whom she also lost to suicide just 8 wks after her husband, & her mother, a strong-willed military wife who had obediently birthed and raised 6 children while silently harboring a dark secret from her own childhood. She compassionately portrays the intricacies of their unique lives.
