A former commanding officer in the Marine Corps who made national headlines in August of 2021 after criticizing the U.S. military’s evacuation of Afghanistan is in the news again. Lt. Col. Stuart Scheller, formerly the commander of Advanced Infantry Training Battalion at the School of Infantry East located at Camp Geiger in Jacksonville, was is in pretrial confinement at Camp Lejeune, but faced no charges, according to a Marine Corps spokesperson. The spokesperson said the general nature of the offenses being considered at an Article 32, or preliminary, hearing are contempt toward officials, willfully disobeying superior commissioned officer, failure to obey lawful general orders and conduct unbecoming an officer and a gentleman. Lt. Col. Scheller posted a video on Aug. 26, 2021 demanding accountability from senior leaders after an attack killed 13 U.S. service members in Kabul, Afghanistan. The following day, Lt. Col.
