SDG 162: Forgiveness

Matthew 18:21-35

We need to learn how to forgive one another.

Forgiveness is one of God’s greatest gifts and thank God He has forgiven us.

Thank God for His grace that forgives us.

Now “to forgive” literally means to release a debt.

So when we sin, we sin against God, and Heaven’s suing us for damages and there’s a debt that we cannot pay.

But when forgiveness comes, our debt is cancelled.

For example, if you owe me a thousand dollars and you cannot pay, and I say, “I forgive the debt,” it cost me a thousand dollars to forgive your debt.

So there are no free passes.

Forgiveness costs the forgiver to forgive the forgivee, and the forgiver pays the debt.

So there’s no such thing as cheap forgiveness’.
