1 Corinthians 12:25
Christians are often hurt by people because they fail to grasp the proper order and application of the 4 distinct types of love. When Jesus commanded us to "love one another" He used the term agape which is godly love.
Yet in John 5:20 where Jesus said: For the Father loveth the Son, and sheweth Him all things that Himself doeth: and He will shew Him greater works than these, that ye may marvel.
Jesus used the Greek work philio (Strongs G5368) and this means brotherly love and should be reserved for other believers. Then there's eros, reserved for your spouse and the marriage bed out of which grows storge or family love. Yet our culture has it all mixed up! Hence much hurt, pain and suffering.
So with other believers we are to practice philio love to achieve PROPER Christian Friendship as We’re to care for one another. We’re to love one another. We’re to receive one another. We’re to forebear one another. We’re to greet one another. We’re to confess one to another. We’re to forgive one another. Join us in this special message on the four loves and the seven "one another commands" from St. Paul as we learn about PROPER Christian Friendship!
