Now the Bible tells us that God will use the Edomites to judge His chosen people!

2 Chronicles 28:17 For again the Edomites had come and smitten Judah, and carried away captives. 

And God in a play on words warns that the Edomites would continue to plot against His Chosen People.  See Isaiah 63:1 Who is this that cometh from Edom, with dyed garments from Bozrah? this that is glorious in his apparel, travelling in the greatness of his strength? I that speak in righteousness, mighty to save.
