In June 2022, Arnika Edwards was named Assistant Athletic Director for Student Career and Leadership Development at Stony Brook University. Her promotion comes after spending the 2021-22 academic year as Director of Basketball Operations on the Seawolves' women's basketball staff. She's responsible for creating, administering, and implementing innovative programs for all student-athletes in multiple areas within the Athletics department to positively transform their lives. These areas include career placement, student-athlete welfare, leadership development, community involvement, mentoring, financial management skills, sexual assault and violence prevention training, and stress/time management skills.
Edwards has spent over 25 years involved in sports. She was a two-sport student-athlete at Alabama A&M University, high school head basketball coach, first black female school district Director of Athletics in the state of Alabama, Director of Administrative Support Services at Auburn University, and Director of Operations at University of Dayton.
She graduated Cum Laude from Alabama A&M University in 1991 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics and a minor in Physics. She earned her Master of Arts Degree in Mathematics Education from the University of Montevallo in 1996 and an MBA from the University of Dayton in 2020. A proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., she is married to Ronald Edwards and has a daughter, Chanel.
