Abigail Eiler, LMSW, MSW, QMHP is a licensed clinical social worker and educator with nearly 20 years of experience working in tribal and non-tribal communities across the country and in Canada. She is Clinical Asst. Professor of Social Work at the University of Michigan and the developer and Director of the first Sport Social Work Certificate program, which is offered through an institution’s continuing education department.
Prof. Eiler is a former President of the National Association of Social Workers - Michigan Chapter Board of Directors. She is the Chair of the Big Ten’s Mental Health & Wellness Cabinet, and an active member of the Big Ten Equality Coalition.
She returned to Michigan Athletics in 2017 as an Athletic Counselor and was quickly promoted to the role of Assistant Director of Athletic Counseling and later elevated to the roles of Chief Diversity Officer, Asst. AD and Director of Athletic Counseling & High Performance.
As a former elite athlete who competed on the National and University of Michigan Water Polo teams, she understands the joys and challenges of performing at a high level in the classroom and in sport.
Prof. Eiler resumed her role as full-time member of the governing faculty in January 2023 and continues to contract with Michigan Athletics.
