MELCHIZEDEK - Earth's Hero! Part 11: The Melchizedek Teachings in the Levant

This week we continue our study of Melchizedek, King of Salem. Melchizedek is counted in the Bible, Hebrews 7:3, as one, "Without father or mother or genealogy, without beginning of days or end of life, like the Son of God, he remains a priest for all time." Melchizedek lived and taught on earth for 94 years. Urantia Papers 93-98 are devoted to Melchizedek with Papers 96 and 97 treating the Hebrew religion's evolution--the world religion most heavily influenced, at least initiated, by his teachings.

2,000 BC was a wild time in ancient Mesopotamia. Multiple gods who required sacrifices. deeply warring tribes, and highly questionable religious practices. All these challenges and more, were laid before the Salem priests as they set off to enlighten the fertile crescent.

95:1.1 By 2000 B.C. the religions of Mesopotamia had just about lost the teachings of the Sethites and were largely under the influence of the primitive beliefs of two groups of invaders, the Bedouin Semites who had filtered in from the western desert and the barbarian horsemen who had come down from the north.

Thanks to loyal work by the Salem missionaries, much of the sacred writings in the bible are either written by or directly influenced from the teachings of the Salem priests.

95:1.11 Much of the Mesopotamian religious culture found its way into Hebrew literature and liturgy by way of Egypt through the work of Amenemope and Ikhnaton. The Egyptians remarkably preserved the teachings of social obligation derived from the earlier Andite Mesopotamians and so largely lost by the later Babylonians who occupied the Euphrates valley.
