Why feed a hungry neighbor, or give clothing to someone without? Why welcome a homeless family in your church building or bring soup over to someone recovering from surgery? Obviously (we hope) just because these neighbors have the need, and we are called to love our neighbors. But something else happens to us when we deliberately look for ways to serve neighbors--we are shaped, so that we become more generous people, like daily jogging will improve your body's physical endurance. And we also discover Christ is in the encounter with the neighbor as well--we get to be the face of Christ for others, and Christ turns out to be the one we serve as well. In a world and in a time that often only ask, "What's in it for me?" it can be a radical spiritual practice to seek to serve a neighbor without strings or conditions--and without needing to turn it into a public photo op, either. Join us for conversation today around the table as we look at ways we serve our neighbors, and how to get better at looking for opportunities to do it, in this week's Crazy Faith Talk!
