In our latest episode looking at the "Mandela Effect" in the Bible (those times we were sure we remembered a character, event, or story one way, only to discover we had mis-remembered it together with a lot of other people), pastors Erica, Sarah, and Steve look at the figure called "antichrist" in the Bible and in Christian history and theology. And while pop religion (like the not-very-biblical Left Behind series) often makes "the AntiChrist" to be a singular world figure, like a president or head of a world government, there are important voices in the New Testament that actually say that "many antichrists have already come" as well as the prospect of more anti-Christ figures in the future. They help us to see that anything or anyone who sets themselves up in the place of Christ, or any way of thinking that runs counter to the way of Jesus, can be "anti-Christ." So rather than letting ourselves be complacent until some predicted government figure arrives on the stage of world history, the Scriptures are calling us now to look at any place within us (yes, in OURSELVES!) where our lives are running counter to the way and love of Jesus.
