According to Pew Research, 73% of 12- to 17-year-olds have at least one social networking profile. This means the pressure is on: "I am pretty enough? Popular enough? Posting enough?" Many girls invest hours every week trying to create exciting status updates, editing pictures to remove all the flaws, and even exaggerating their social activities - just because they want to appear more important than they feel.
Every girl desires to be wanted. But, this yearning for attention, affirmation, and approval, can lead young women to hold nothing back. On social media, the new trend is that exposing everything seems to be the answer. Yet, what teenage girls need to know is that the best way to feel important is to keep parts of her heart a secret.
