Big Omeezy

Born the son of a Black Muslim minister, O'mar Helton was instilled with an incomparable work ethic as well as inspiring and motivational communication skills, watching his father open Muslim temples up and down the west coast. Raised in the heart of “The Bay,” East Oakland, he was influenced at an early age by artist's such as Whodini, Too Short, RUN D.M.C, Beastie Boys and Public Enemy to name a few. The artists he admired and his unique upbringing fueled his love for music and ultimate entry into the music industry.

“What hinders this industry is ‘manufactured’ music, without some kind of message,” states Omeezy passionately, “some game to learn from it, that's what we’re supposed to get in Hip Hop I feel.” His passion for music led Omeezy began writing and focusing more on his musical career. A chance encounter in 1993 with one of hip hop’s legends would soon set the path that lie ahead. Omeezy took every opportunity given to him by the Ambassador of the Bay, E-40 himself.  In fact, it was E-40 who officially dubbed the rapper, Big Omeezy.

With an unquenchable thirst for knowledge and the ability to soak up every part of the game and hustle in the music biz has proven to be fruitful. In 2005, after working his way from bodyguard to road manager, Omeezy was given the great opportunity to perform on stage with E-40. Shortly thereafter during the "And 1 Mixtape Tour", his close friend and mentor gave Omeezy the validation he needed as a hip hop artist. The dynamic duo has since been performing on stages all across America, as well as headlining in Japan and Amsterdam.
