About Valerie Shaw:

Valerie Shaw has a background in journalism – having reported for a number of publications, including the Los Angeles Times, the Los Angeles Sentinel and the Wave Publications – and in public relations--earning a Master’s degree in Public Relations from the University of Southern California. 

She was a founding member of the Black Public Relations Society, Inc, and she was recently honored by the L.A. City Council for being the Mother of the Black Journalists’ Association of Southern California, founded in 1980.
