About Carlos Martin:

Carlos Martin aka King Jaquell Martin is a native of Benton Harbor, MI.   In high school he was athletically astute and excelled in every area of sports.  From Track and Field to the football field.  He also developed a keen interest in dramatic arts but placed his pursuit of it on hold until he completed his service with the U.S. Armed Forces.

About The Tougaloo Nine:

At 11 a.m. on March 27, 1961, nine students from the historically black Tougaloo College walked into the all-white Jackson (Miss.) Public Library. Joseph Jackson Jr., their leader, approached the circulation desk.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Tougaloo Nine were a group of African-American students at Tougaloo College who participated in civil disobedience by staging sit-ins of segregated public institutions in Mississippi in 1961.
