Johnny Strozier Keeping It Real, a reentry show, is on air most Saturdays at 9pmEST. Call 347-857-3293 to participate on air or just to listen. Also, listen live via computer or hear the archived tapes at "Human Rights Demand" channel on Blogtalkradio.
Strozier was a Georgia prisoner for 46 years - most of his life since age 10. His first freedom as an adult came in his middle 50's. Strozier accepts responsibility for his actions, which included many escape attempts, gang violence, and refusing to respect prison guards. He converted to Christianity in the 1980's and began to prepare for his freedom. Although he had been sentenced to 90 years after stabbing a guard, he knew that "he whom the Lord sets free is free indeed." He completed rehabilitation classes, attained his GED, and was certified in two trades before leaving prison. Strozier advises prisoners and newly released people to keep an optimistic attitude. He says, "When you think different, you'll act different, and things will begin to go different in your life."
Strozier is available for speaking engagements in the Atlanta Metropolitan area. Call him at 678.516.4993. Strozier plans to attend the "Rally at the Georgia Capitol Against Brutality and Deaths in Custody" on Monday, August 3, 2015, from 11am until 2pmEST. The rally is also to support H.R.2646, a U.S. Congressional bill, the "Helping Families in Mental Health Crisis Act." Join us, if you can.
