Hurricane Maria, a Category 5 hurricane (the strongest on the scale), hit the Island of Puerto Rico in September 2017. The island took all of the storm and the eye passed over all of the island. From the outset the relief effort by the mainland US was inadequate at best and negligent at worst. The initial death toll that President Trump bragged about being so good was 16, but the impact of this storm was so devistating that the number somehow seemed off. Trump said it was not a real catastrophe and Puerto Rico should be proud of that. We explore some research into the adjusting death toll numbers and the state of the island today 2 months after that storm hit.
