Byron Case is a writer wrongfully imprisoned in a maximum-security Missouri penitentiary. Between his birth in a simple Kansas farmhouse and his unjust confinement at age twenty-two, Byron camped on Jamaican beaches, backpacked through Europe, woke to Australian sunrises, went night-swimming with a Russian rock 'n' roll band, played classical violin for recital audiences, raced and ruined import tuners, collected paper, herded cats, and flaunted an inadvisable wardrobe of consistently black clothing. Today he leads a rich inner life.
