Happiness is what most people want in life. We live vicariously our days in pursuit of that perfect harmony where everyday seems like a holiday. We educate ourselves in order to earn more money and work hard to have it so we can feel a sense of security which is a requirement to be happy. We have put being happy over everything else in life, and this includes FAMILY. You see some say if your FAMILY is happy then that is enough. Others however say that INDIVIDUAL happiness is the most important thing. This is why people get divorced and we have so many children out of wedlock. Because when relationships break down, when decisions about being in a relationship with someone you have a child with, we opt for HAPPINESS, or FREEDOM over FAMILY. Back in the day this line of thinking was reversed. People stayed together for the sake of FAMILY. But now, PERSONAL FREEDOM AND HAPPINESS trumps all. Sounds selfish doesn't it? Maybe or maybe not, but that is what we are hear to find out on this episode. Questions 1) is your freedom from a not so great relationship more important than keeping a family together? 2) black women used to be the "backbone" of the family, now they are quick to say "they don't need a man" is this selfish or is their happiness more important than staying with a man? 3) do you think black people as a whole should opt to stay together no matter what, would this help us as a people?
