Priest Nagaya: THE EXODUS! ! ! !

 This first section (Exodus 1:50-12:36) contains an account of the following particulars: The great increase of Jacob's posterity in the land of Egypt, and their oppression under a new dynasty which occupied the throne after the death of Joseph (chapter 1); the birth, education, and flight of Moses (chapter 2); his solemn call to be the deliverer of his people (Exo_3:1 to Exo_4:17), and his return to Egypt in consequence (Exo_4:18-31); his first ineffectual attempt to prevail upon Pharaoh, to let the Israelites go, which only resulted in an increase of their burdens (Exo_5:1-21); a farther preparation of Moses and Aaron for their office, together ewith the account of their genealogies (Exo_5:22 to Exo_7:7); the successive signs and wonders, by means of which the deliverance of Israel from the land of hondage is at length accomplished, and the institution of the Passover (Exo_7:8 to Exo_12:36).
