Jer_23:7, Jer_30:3, Jer_31:27; Jer_31:31; Jer_31:38, Jer_33:14), implies a special call to note the announcement thus introduced. In spite of the troubles which are now gathering round them there are none the less surely days of deliverance coming. Branch] mg. Or, Shoot Or, Bud. While the word designating the Messiah in Isa_11:1 is rightly translated Branch, the Heb. substantive here (Ṣemach) can only mean shoot, that which springs immediately out of the ground. In Isa_4:2 the word is used in a more general sense, not as here of the individual Messianic Ruler, but of the produce of the soil in the blissful age of the Messiah.
