What's on your mind could mean what you are currently thinking about, while what's in your mind could reflect your total mindset. What spawned this conversation was the desire to bring attention to the fact that this is Suicide Prevention Month. What is on your mind could impact your day, but what's in your mind can impact your life. To have this conversation, I checked to see what topics were trending. I'm sure you have heard people say he or she is strange, I wonder what's going on in their head. My sister Debra authored a book entitled What On Earth Are You Thinking? Either way you ask the question, what we do know is that what you're thinking controls your next. In other words, I believe, thoughts influence words, which influence actions, which become habits. These habits can be good or bad and are ultimately your choice. The World Health Organization says “Changing the narrative on suicide” Suicide is a major public health challenge, with more than 700 000 deaths each year globally. Each suicide has far-reaching social, emotional, and economic consequences and deeply affects individuals and communities worldwide. The triennial theme for World Suicide Prevention Day for 2024-2026 is designed to reduce stigma and encourage open conversation to prevent suicides. LET'S TALK ABOUT IT! Some people never take their lives but they never live their dreams. How do you know when someone is drowning or no longer desires to live? You might start with asking a very important question, what's on your mind or better yet, what's in your mind? Did you know that conversation and connecting with others heal? It's in the conversation that we discover that we are more alike than we are different. Grab your mug and fill it up, and let's have a conversation about life. For me, the greater exchange happens first in the morning when it's just Me, God, and a Cup of Coffee.
