Listen to the Sun. July 19, 2020 special edition of the Pan-African Journal: Worldwide Radio Broadcast hosted by Abayomi Azikiwe, editor of the Pan-African News Wire. The program features a PANW report with dispatches on events in Portland where federal security personnel have been deployed in an effort to curb anti-racist demonstrations; the COVID-19 pandemic is having a severe impact on the French-controlled territories in the Caribbean; Namibian SWAPO veteran freedom fighter and former governmental official, Jason Angula, has joined the ancestors; and Sudan says that neighboring Ethiopia has denied beginning the process of filling the Grand Renaissance Dam Project. In the second hour we continue our focus on the recent passing of Congressman John Lewis (1940-2020), the former Chairman of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC), through an audio documentary on the Nashville Movement of 1960 and other historical issues. Finally, we listen to a briefing from the Director General of the World Health Organization (WHO), Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, from July 17.
