Listen to the Sat. Jan. 23, 2021 edition of the Pan-African Journal: Worldwide Radio Broadcast hosted by Abayomi Azikiwe, editor of the Pan-African News Wire. The program features our regular PANW report with dispatches on the denial by the Ethiopian and Somalian governments that troops from Mogadishu are operating in the Tigray region; the Central African Republic has raised an alert saying that insurgent forces are surrounding the capital of Bangui; South Africa is seeking to acquire the COVID-19 vaccines amid an acceleration of cases inside the country; and Zimbabwe is enhancing its mitigation efforts to stem coronavirus infections as several high-ranking ministers and officials have succumbed to the pandemic. In the second hour we review some of the major issues impacting the African continent in recent days. Finally, we listen to a briefing from the Director General of the World Health Organization (WHO), Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, on the current status of the pandemic around the world while the new United States administration has rejoined the global body.
