Listen to the Sun. Jan. 31, 2021 special edition of the Pan-African Journal: Worldwide Radio Broadcast hosted by Abayomi Azikiwe, editor of the Pan-African News Wire. The program features our regular PANW report with dispatches on the announcement by the African Union (AU) envoy on COVID-19 saying that the continent is acquiring one billion doses of the vaccine by the end of this year; a bomb explosion and gunfire has taken place at a hotel in the Somalian capital of Mogadishu; an opposition grouping in Congo-Brazzaville is refusing to participate in the upcoming national elections in the oil-rich state; and the Angolan police has responded to unrest in a province inside the country. In the second hour we commemorate the eve of African American History Month with a reexamination of the contributions of Puerto Rican-born Arturo A. Schomburg, the archivist of the early 20th century who contributed immensely to the acquisition of primary source documents. Finally, we pay tribute to African American artist Cicely Tyson who passed away several days ago.
