Tyra is joined by Dr. Cerrissa Hugie and Pastor Tracy Hugie to discuss the dynamics of Race Based Trauma. We will discuss the unique struggles that underrepresented groups face in regards to mental illness and understanding that experiences of racial discrimination can result in stress and trauma reactions. Racism is a mental health issue because racism causes trauma and (RBTS) Race Based Traumatic Stress needs to be taken seriously. Dr. Cerrissa Hugie is a doctor of nursing practice and psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner. Tracy Hugie is the Pastor of Grace Place Ministries and the president of Grace Alive Non-Profit that focuses on youth development.
