Carter G. Woodson started "Negro History Week" around February 1926. Overtime Black History Month Evolved from it around 1968. During the time of the Pan African Black Empowerment era, there was a lot of reconnection between the Continent and the Diaspora. A lot of African Nations were getting their Independence from Colonial Powers of Europe. In the US, Black awareness was getting more and more emphasis placed on it through music, television, and film. The term "Black Power" became popular amongst us and organizations and political agendas that concerned Co-Operative economics were being implemented as well. However, there were those that were extorted through COINTELPRO that betrayed and sabotaged the movement as well. Social Engineering was enhanced and more clandestine to take hold around the mid 1970s with the emergence of the "Disco" era. In the inner cities, major drug usage was beginning to take it's hold within the Melaninated Communities as well. Public schools began gradually eliminating skiled trade classes, such as, wood and Auto shop classes. Classes that pretty much the youth could parlay into making a decent living. 50 years later, it is quite evident that we have REGRESSED 100 years innovatingly.
