Renaissance woman Carmel Niland is the author of the new novel A Darker Magic This Way Comes, the first book in the Merlin's Secrets series.  A resident of Sydney, Australia, Carmel is an educator and amateur historian with a profound fascination for the life of King Arthur.

Her novel is an epic reimagining of the Arthurian legend, a tale of love and war, knights and wizardry, angels and goddesses, resulting in a cosmic clash between Darkness and Light.  She brilliantly weaves together two lifetimes, one emerging from the Dark Ages and the other in modern technological times.  We will explore the mysteries and impact of the Arthurian legacy from long ago until today.

Carmel has a fascinating history herself, as she has also been a CEO in the New South Wales Government where she led agencies on gender, racial equality, human rights and child protection.  She is the President of the Iris Society of Australia, and her first book is the culmination of a lifetime of passion for studying the Arthurian legends.
