Skepticism and Awakening

There are many skeptics in the world, with regards to spiritual phenomena.  True spirituality has never had to do with anything other than the pursuit, understanding, observation and experience of actual reality.  Emerging from skepticism, when honestly pursuing truth, is essentially awakening to reality.  Fear and inaccurate assumptions are often significant impediments.  So how can we view skepticism and the awakening process in a productive way?  The movie "Contact" provides some important lessons that are very approachable to understand.  This is not just an intellectual exercise - it is vital to humanity's future.
