From Radio Row at the Super Bowl, Joe and Scott Rosner, the Director of Columbia's Sports Management Program, present a special episode featuring Gordon McGuinness - the Head of Content at Pro Football Focus. With over a decade of experience at PFF, McGuinness currently serves as a senior analyst, overseeing the company's special teams processes. In the podcast, McGuinness delves into the company's history, from its creation by Neil Hornsby in 2006 to its transition to a consumer-focused product following Cris Collinsworth's majority stake acquisition. He also highlights the advancements in data collection and analysis, moving away from using Excel and Access databases to more efficient online tools. Additionally, McGuinness discusses his involvement in professional American football and the impact of the growth of gambling on PFF's adoption among consumers in the United States.
