Good morning, today on The Meter, we will discuss the continuing protests of police brutality with the most recent incident, the killing of a Black man in Atlanta Friday night. Rayshard Brooks was shot and killed after failing a field sobriety test, according to police. Then Brooks allegedly resisted, grabbed a police taser, and aimed it at officers before being shot and killed. Protesters took to the streets blocking a major interstate and setting the Wendy's ablaze where the shooting occured. The police officer was fired and the police chief have resigned. Was this use of deadly force justified? Also, protesters are continuing to occupy 6 city blocks in Seattle. The occupiers are making a list of demands before giving up. Seattle's mayor has described the occupation as a Block Party and Washington's governor claimed he knew nothing of the incident. People in Nashville have threatened similar action. Is this a reasonable response to police brutality? Also, Trump rallies are set to resume this week in Tulsa, OK. reportedly over 300,000 potential attendees have requested admission. Is this the wrong time, admidst the still ongoing Covid-19 and nationwide protest to hold a political rally. Please join the discussion at 10AM. The call-in number is 347-308-8933.
