Good morning, today on The Meter we will cover the tragedy in Uvalde, TX where 19 children and 2 teachers were massacred in yet another school shooting that has shaken America. Disappointment added to the sadness once it was confirmed that law enforcement officers did not initially engage the suspect, waited for more than 30 minutes while pleas from inside the school went unanswered, and prevented Border Patrol Agents from storming the school. Law enforcement says they were waiting for backup before entry. Democrats including Joe Biden immediately blamed guns, the NRA, and inadequate laws for the tragedy, while Republicans are more concerned about school security and mental health. What are causing these recurring incidents in America? Donald Trump spoke at the NRA convention in Houston Texas days after the Uvalde massacre amidst protests. The 45th President gave pledged his continual support for the 150 year old organization and the 2nd amendment while giving his advice on dealing with protecting our schools. Single point of entry, trained guards, and no unauthorized personnel. Trump received huge ovations during his one hour address sounding like a candidate. Will Trump run once again? Border security is again in the headlines as a plot to assassinate Former President George W. Bush. An Iraqi national was stopped by Federal Agents as he planned to smuggle terrorists across the unsecure southern border. While we are mouring over Uvalde, how can the US fix our national boundaries?
