Good morning! Today, on The Meter, we will cover the latest scandal in Washington, DC. Senator Bob Menedez (D) NJ has been indicted on bribery charges that include $480,000 in cash, some stuffed into the pockets of his pants, and gold bars. The charges accuse Menedez of releasing sensitive government information to Egypt in exchange for the release of $300M in aid. Menedez's wife was also indicted. Sen. Menedez was part of the pack against President Trump on the Russian collusion story that was proven to be totally false. Menedez was removed from his membership committee but refused to resign. How will this impact the upcoming elections? Also, Eagle Pass, TX, is again overwhelmed with migrants. Ten of thousands of illegal aliens are gathered at the border, ready to enter the US upon hearing Joe Biden is going to hand out work permits via executive order. Most of the migrants are Venezuelan men. Press secretary Jean Marie Pierre once again said the border is secure. Will the crisis cause Democrats to vote Republican? This past week, Attorney General Merrick Garland testified before Congress over his perceived bias in his indictments of President Trump and Hunter Biden. Garland refused to directly answer most questions, basically taking the 5th. Garland did, however, say that he is not Joe Biden's lawyer. Should the Republican led House impeach Merrick Garland? Also, we may be headed for a government shutdown as Democrat and Republican lawmakers are at a stalemate on the huge federal budget. The crises at our southern border derailed the deal that seemed near. Speaker McCarthy has made offers to the Democrat Party, but at present, no agreement seems close with a week to go. Who will be held accountable for the talk breakdown? Please join the discussion at 10AM. The call-in number is 347-308-8933. Your input is essential!
