Good morning. Today, on The Meter, we will cover the latest in the Israeli-Hamas war. The Israeli government issued a warning to the 1 million residents of Northern Gaza to move south of the Wadi Gaza wetlands within 24 hours. The deadline has passed, but Israel has since issued a 3 hour extension. Israel is continuing air strikes, and an all-out invasion may be just hours away. The United Nations has stated that the evacuation orders are an impossibility. Water, electricity, fuel, and supplies are running scarce as casualties mount. American citizens are also amongst those on the move in the Gaza Strip as Egypt is anticipating a crisis on their border with Gaza. Could the pending Israeli invasion spark additional fronts in the conflict, and is American involvement a possibility? Also, back home, the Republican Party is still in search of a Speaker of the House. Steve Scalise withdrew from consideration as he saw no path to 217 votes. Jim Jordan has now been nominated by the GOP. With Israel ready for the next phase of operations in their war on Hamas, will the stalemate affect potential US support? Here in Virginia, election day is nearing. All 140 General Assembly seats are up, 100 in the House of Delegates, and 40 in the State Senate. The Republicans hold the House, and the Democrats have the Senate. Many battleground districts will determine the majority. How will world events affect local races, and will this be an early indicator for next year? Please join the discussion at 10AM. The call-in number is 347-308-8933. Your input is essential.
