In this fourth "Truth to Power" presentation -- including three prior virtual panels -- project cofounders Alicia Hughes, Teresa Genaro, and Frank Vespe take a step back, a year after the killing of George Floyd kicked off a national reckoning with issues of race, diversity and inclusion.
Where has racing been on these matters? Where is it going? How will it get there?
Today's discussion includes analysis and opinion, of course, and also some deeply personal stories that get to the critical question: why diversity matters, and what racing can do about it?
This discussion builds on the three previous panels. Those panels addressed issues including why some businesses perceive increasing diversity as critical to their bottom line, what grassroots efforts have been underway in racing and other sports to create more welcoming spaces for underrepresented people, and how horseplayers have confronted (or been confronted by) these issues.
