Off to the Races Radio, powered by The Racing Biz returned March 23 at 10:00 a.m. The one-hour radio show, which is presented by the Virginia Equine Alliance, returns for its 26th season.
The program focuses on Thoroughbred racing and breeding in Virginia, around the Mid-Atlantic, and across the country and will air each Saturday at 10:00 a.m. Eastern on ESPN Richmond (106.1 FM) and via livestreaming. Starting in late March, the show will air simultaneously on ESPN Harrisonburg (106.9 FM and 1360 AM). And during the summer race meet at Colonial Downs, the program will expand to two hours.
The show will run through November 2.
The program combines tips and advice on betting horse racing, news from the sport, and interviews and conversations with major racing newsmakers.
Saturday's show hosts Nick Hahn and Frank Vespe welcomed in John Dooley, Dave Zenner, Kaitlin Free, Kali Francois and more. Dooley is the track announcer at the Fair Grouds, which hosts its biggest race, the Louisiana Derby, this afternoon. Free handicaps Turfway Park, which likewise hosts its biggest race today. Francois helped us handicap the two Laurel Park stakes, while Zenner updated us on the annual turf burn at Colonial Downs. The show also featured a visit from Wanamaker's CEO Liza Hendriks.
