International Justice Mission is a human rights agency that is dedicated to securing justice for victims of slavery, sexual exploitation and other forms of violent oppression in response to the biblical call to justice. IJM at UVA meets on Grounds every Thursday at 5PM. They plan events throughout the year to raise awareness and promote change in the Charlottesville community. Although this organization has members who are University of Virginia students and may have University employees associated or engaged in its activities and affairs, the organization is not a part of or an agency of the University. It is a separate and independent organization which is responsible for and manages its own activities and affairs. The University does not direct, supervise or control the organization and is not responsible for the organization’s contracts, acts or omissions.
As the IJM Campus Chapter at UVa, the organization seeks to further the mission of IJM and work towards the eradication of modern-day slavery and human trafficking by taking a three-pronged approach:
• Awareness- raising university-wide and community-wide awareness of the issue • Action- engaging the community through awareness-raising events, advocacy, and prayer • Aid- fundraising to further the work of IJM both locally and internationally
Help fight for the rights of 27 million people enslaved in our world today!
