On this powerful and impactful episode of Think Hope Podcast, Hopeologist Dr. Rosalind Lewis Tompkins has a hope chat with HOPEE (Helping Others Practice Enduring Empowerment) Awardee Desmond Meade about how he was able to help get the voting rights restored for 1.4 million Floridians with past felony convictions. During the interview with Mr. Desmond Meade we learn that he is proud to be a hope dealer as he shares his testimony of overcoming drug addiction, homelessness, and attempted suicide. Mr. Meade is a MacArthur Genius Grant Awardee and he is the president of the Florida Rights Restoration Coalition and a graduate of Florida International University College of Law. In 2019 Time Magazine named Mr. Meade one of the 100 Most Influential People in the World, as he empowers and civically re-engages local communities across the state, and reshapes local, state, and national criminal justice policies.
Listen and enjoy this Think Hope podcast as we hear Hope Thoughts and feedback from two of Mothers In Crisis Christ Vision Tribe members, Minister Nettie Walker Palmore and Pastor Kwame Lewis. Hopeologist Rosalind also reads her blog What Brings Me Hope: Passing Hope on to Others that is published in the Tallahassee Democrat and Capital Outlook newspapers.
