While the four gospels, Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, recount the life of Jesus Christ, the book of Romans explores the significance of His sacrificial death. As such, it has been called “the gospel according to Paul.” In a question and answer format, Romans is the most systematic presentation of doctrine in the Bible. But the Good News is more than theology pondered; it is a life to be lived – a life of righteousness, befitting one whom God declares, “not guilty” of offending Him if we trust in Jesus Christ. Join Pastor Cornelius F. Warren and Elder S.E. Fisher, Sr in this powerful time of biblical teaching.
Your eternal destiny depends on your understanding and personally believing the truth that Paul has been hammering on in Romans 4, that we are justified (declared righteous) by faith alone. We are not justified by works or by moral behavior, but rather by faith in the God who credits righteousness to the ungodly apart from works (verses 1-8). This blessing is not based on religious rituals (verses 9-12) or on keeping the Law, which only serves to condemn us (verses 13-15). Rather, as Paul now shows in verses 16-22, saving faith is rooted in God’s grace, it rests on God’s promise, it revels in God’s glory, and it relies on God’s power.
