AN EVENING WITH DR. TRAVIS WORTHAM

Travis Wortham has an impressive educational background, holding a Master's in Counseling and a B.A. in Political Science-International Affairs from Howard University in Washington, D.C. He is a published author of "Creating Monsters or Raising Champions" and has served over 33 years in the Texas Juvenile Justice system, with 25 years in administration and 10 years mentoring. 

Travis has been recognized throughout the Dallas community and the state of Texas, receiving over 100 awards and proclamations from various boards and commissions, including the Governor of Texas, the Texas State Senate, the Texas House of Representatives, the Dallas City Council, the Dallas County Commissioner's Court, the National N.A.A.C.P. Award, Turner Broadcasting, and the YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas, among others. 

He is highly sought-after as a speaker, trainer, and consultant on topics such as "Youth Violence," "Bullying," "Family Services," "Civil Rights & Civil Liberties," and Cultural Diversity. Travis has appeared on national and local TV and radio programs, including a show with syndicated CBS Reporter Dan Rather and a USA Today article on "Stop Violence in the Park." 

He is the founder and owner of "The WORTHAM Group," a consortium of licensed and certified consultants, practitioners, and trainers. His accomplishments include the accreditation of his Juvenile Facility by the American Corrections Accreditation (ACA) and co-facilitating Dallas's first and only "Multicultural Youth Summit," drawing over 1400 youth of all diversities from around the Dallas/Ft. Worth Metroplex. Additionally, he facilitated the seminar "Color, Culture & Consensus" and spoke to youth groups on the Impact of Social Media and Pop Cultural Influences.
