Second Corinthians must have been a difficult letter for Paul to write because he had to list his credentials as an apostle. Paul being a humble servant of Christ was reluctant to do so, but he knew it was necessary. Paul didn’t want them to focus on the messenger, but the message.
In 2 Corinthians Paul first the readers his relationship with them, he let them know that he was always straightforward with them. Paul then moves directly to the subject of false teachers, he reviews his ministry to validate his message and urge them to accept the truth. Paul then turns to the issue of collecting money for the poor Christians in Jerusalem. He also tell them how others have given and urge them to show their in a tangible way as well. Paul then gives a strong defense of his authority as a genuine apostle while pointing out the deceptive influence of the false teachers.
