“What Jesus did for us we could never do for ourselves?”  Ephesians 2:1-10

We were a dead in trespasses and sins, but Jesus quickened us by His death, burial and resurrection, bridging the gap by becoming our bridge over trouble waters, allowing us to cross over from death to life. The verb 'quicken' means 'to make alive; to vivify; to revive or resuscitate, as from dead.' So quickening denotes giving life or energy to something or someone. Before Christ came in our lives we were the walking dead. There was nothing that we could do in and of ourselves to bridge the gap, absolutely nothing, we needed a Savior.  In Christ we became new creatures old things passed away and behold all things became new.  In past time we followed the compass of this world.  We did things according to the prince of the power of the air, which is Satan. Every one of us knows a nice, kind and loving person that never accepted Christ. They help the poor, visit the sick and treat their neighbors as they would like to be treated. No matter what you did, you may not have been the worst person in the world, even did good works, you wouldn’t go to hell for what you did, but what you didn’t do, not having Jesus as your savior. If you never accepted Christ as your Savior, you are dead and maybe thinking they there is another way to enter eternal life or maybe you could save yourself.
