“You can’t move forward by looking back” Genesis 19:17-26
Lot lost his wife to disobedience they were told to keep it moving and don’t look back. She valued the city of sin more than the refuge that God had prepared for his people. How often we too find the allures of this world more captivating and eye-catching, the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes and the pride of live, more than the things of God. We find the ways of this world more pleasing and enticing than the narrow path that God has ordained for His saints to walk therein! Luke 17: 31 In that day, he which shall be upon the housetop, and his stuff in the house, let him not come down to take it away: and he that is in the field, let him likewise not return back. 32 Remember Lot's wife. 33 Whosoever shall seek to save his life shall lose it; and whosoever shall lose his life shall preserve it. She should have been grateful for the deliverance, now she has no faith looking only at what she could see. To stop looking back it takes faith. We don’t know much about Lot’s wife, the bible doesn’t give her name, but one things she is known for is looking back. This is letting us know when God says to move, move, don’t look back keep it moving. Lot wife was concern with what she was losing and couldn’t see what ahead. Many times we believe that we are going through, but it could be God bringing us to a new season, a new level, but we can’t look back. Stop looking back at what mama did or didn’t do. Your marriage didn’t work out keep it moving. Your finances may not have been the best, keep pressing. She Looked Back and died,
