Despite the many upsides of age, a long life means that our generation has witnessed a number of horrendous events. And one of the most painful of these harkens back to our youth: The Vietnam War.
Our guest, Lucy Rose Fischer, is an author, artist and social scientist. Lucy has published a number of books that deal with the various aspects and issues of aging—which was her main focus as a sociologist. Her latest book, however, is perhaps her most poignant. It’s a memoir about the life of her brother, Jerry Rose, who died in Vietnam. The book is entitled, The Journalist: Life and Loss in America’s Secret War. Lucy gives her brother top billing as co-author because, as she tells it, he was right over her shoulder speaking the words of his experiences into her ear as she wrote.
