On PopHealth Week we contiune to discuss topline COVID-19 pandemic news which unfortunately shows no sign of slowing. In fact positivity rates, hospital admissions, deaths are all accelerating, a growing pool of 'long haulers' report a range of long term health consequences as part of their recovery, while a vocial minority downplay or discount the threat to the public at large, ie, 'much to do about nothing'.
On today's edition of our COVID-19 update series we dive a little deeper into some of the headlines from the COVID-19 dashboard to the current state of vaccine development and comment on the likely agenda of the soon to be installed Biden/Harris administration.
So first up is the U.S. COVID-19 dashboard where we've passed the grim milestone of 10.5 mil cases with death counts just shy of 1/4 million 240,857.
Most troubling is positivity rates and hospital admissions are all trending up putting health systems are at increased risk in terms of both capacity (beds) & staffing.
