The month of February is considered Black History Month. As we remember our history it is important to consider those who have made menaingful political contributions, often times fighting for our rights, liberty, and freedom. We must remember those that have paved the way to make the world a better place with their contributions. As we remember let's not forget about our own Black Mothers.

February 17th was the thirteen year anniversary of the passing of my mother ReJean Brooks-Sistrunk. She succumbed to Breast Cancer at the age of 59 after a six year battle. Many did not know that my mother was ill as she was a woman of strength, beauty, courage and wisdom. I have also had people tell me that she was also a "Ganster."

As we celebrate Black History Month lets talk about our "Strong Black Mothers." We can recall our Black TV Mothers. Let's acknowledge our own live 2/22/21 at 12pm Pacific. To Join in on the conversation call 516 387-1914. Growing up in Compton I can recall the names of many of my friend's mother. They were women that I admired, learn a great deal knowledge from and will continue to honor. Although they have transitioned onto glory. I want them as well as my mother and grandmothers to know that I appreciate them. I also invite you to do the same.
